Christmas Thoughts 2015

My family stopped celebrating Christmas a little over 10 years ago. The reason we stopped was due to its pagan beginnings. We believe that when God said not to worship Him in the way that the pagans worship their gods, He meant it in every sense. We believe that when He said He wants to be set apart, and He wants His people to be set apart, that it was for a reason.

Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.                       Deuteronomy 12:30-32

And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.      Leviticus 20:26

Each year that we don’t involve ourselves in this holiday, I see more and more of how antichrist this holiday really is. This year, I see how Christmas is ruining our children – the next generation. I see the “values” that Christmas teaches them.

Christmas is above all, about the gifts. Many claim to be celebrating Jesus, but be honest with yourself and God. Do you fret about buying the right gifts? Are you are worried that your children will be disappointed with the gifts they get or don’t get? Will you go into debt in order to make sure a “good” Christmas is had? How would your children react if you told them they would not be getting anything for Christmas at all? The Christmas holiday teaches children to be greedy and selfish.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house.     Proverbs 15:27

Children are also learning the lesson of discontent. How many gifts will your child get this year? Too many open the first one, look at it, decide if they like it, and then cast it to the side, already forgotten, looking for the next great gift. There is no time to appreciate what they have. There is no time to feel grateful for what they just received. Now ask yourself, how soon before Christmas do your children begin writing their next Christmas list?

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.     Hebrews 13:5

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.     Luke 12:15

Many teach their children that Santa brings them gifts. What lessons are we trying to teach with this? Our children write letters to Santa. Is this not praying to a dead person?

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.     Deuteronomy 18:10-11

Even if Santa never existed, as your children grow older, they will learn that Santa is not real. What have you taught them? “It’s ok to tell a lie, especially those little white lies that won’t hurt anybody.”

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.     Proverbs 12:22

All Christians who celebrate Christmas do so under the guise that it is all about Jesus, when in fact, it has nothing to do with him. Remember the first scripture I listed?

…and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: …What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.                       Deuteronomy 12:30-32

He has given us the Holy Days He wants us to observe. Those are it. We are not to add to them, nor take away from them.

How does God want any part of Christmas? Christmas is the opposite of what God commands us, but it is what we’re teaching our children! We wonder why many young people are turning from Christianity. We Christians teach one thing with our mouths, and on Christmas we practice another. We have taught our children that they don’t have to be serious about the commandments of God.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?     Mark 8:36

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.           Proverbs 22:6

Please understand that I do not make posts about Christmas to start fights or to make somebody mad. I post about Christmas in hopes that others may see the truth. Today, I post in hopes that your children will be well established in the Word of God before they are old enough to depart from it.

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.     James 5:19-20

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!

    Thank you for this post.

I am a newbie as in my wife. About last April of 2015 I explained to my wife the truth about Christmas. She was brought up a Catholic in the Philippines and I thought it would take her a long time to understand. NOPE. Once the truth had been shared she accepted it.

I am writing this because I did NOT know how to tell my Dad and his wife that we no longer celebrate Christmas and today is Dec. 10, 2015. I am sending him a copy of your explanation. It is perfect.

I know I will probably be criticized and say it’s been our family tradition and all the typical stuff to make you feel like you are an outcast and/or a member of some cult but that is typically done by those that don’t even read the Bible and find out the truth for themselves. They just continue to believe we have some type of g-d that understands what we do and will accept us no matter what. A g-d that people create in their own minds to justify what they do.

You make a difference and I want you to know that.

    Shalom.

    YHWH’s berakah!
